For the entirety of the Spring 2021 semester for our Special Projects course (also dubbed Independent Projects Course), students develop, implement, and then present an art project by the end of the semester. My project is named “Dear Diary”.
As a member of a family that moves frequently, the meaning of the word “home” is a semi-permanent one. To me “home” is literally where my head happens to rest. Throughout all of these transitions, I would document the house before leaving. At first, it was through images. I still have the picture of our first house (that I remember) before our first move. Now, my family and I are in the process of moving again and I wanted to document the house before we leave. This is the origin of the “Dear Diary” project. “Dear Diary” is a series of three short unrelated comics that document my time spent in this home.
